Hello,Dia mi!
I hope you have been staying on top of everything. We are in stressful times and it is essential that mental health is maintained.
All the recent incidents we have been hearing have been so heartbreaking. There have been reports of rape, murder, terrorism, homicide and domestic violence all over the place. It has made me wonder where all the humanity in the world went to.
Was the world always horrible like this? Are there still good people? How can we restore our humanity? These are the questions I ask everyday and which I fear I might never get an answer to.
It is common sense to know that there is no justification for rape. As humans, we all know that rape has to do with the mentality of the rapist. We hear the death of a "corrupt" politician and we rejoice. We learn that a thousand Hausas have died and we dismiss it as distant news.
Black people get killed everytime in America and we shove it off.We forget that this was someone's father, sister, friend, that all lives matter. We don't care about the sanity of someone from a different tribe. We call people facing mental health issues attention seekers. What went wrong exactly?
How do we change this reality? There is hope that through persistent orientation, future generations can have its humanity. There should be hope that future generations can have love written on their hearts.
Keeping the fire for humanity burning requires reminding ourselves to be empathetic. It demands reminding ourselves to give, listen and understand. How do you want to fight for humanity? Let's have a conversation in the comment section.
Reminding you to fight for love,
Peperempe.
