My Quarantine Bonuses

Hello, Dia mi! I trust that you've been doing fine. July is turning out to be a dramatic month and it's forcing us to keep up with it😌. As we are slowly coming out of quarantine, it has become necessary to reflect on the time we spent at home. I went through phases of hyper-productivity, inactivity and social media distancing but they were not without vital lessons. Here are some life hacks I learnt that could help you too. Your God and your family are priceless: This cannot be overemphasized! When everything is so hard and you feel like giving up, you know you can turn to God and your family. God is always ready to take care of all your worries and give you the inner peace you desire. Moreover, you know you can always run to your family when all your options run out. Cherish every day like it's your last day on earth. Remember that God is your faithful companion in every situation. Show yourself some love: Yes, you heard that right. It's important to be selfless and c...

Are You Using That Lesson?

Hello, Dia mi! I trust that you have been staying healthy. I hope that you are also growing daily. This is the period where we all want to learn something new. You don't want to sit down on the couch watching television all day. You're pumped up to attend this conference and that webinar. It's that time of the lockdown.  These webinars teach a lot of lessons like emotional intelligence, digital skills and personal effectiveness. To be honest, these are very great lessons. The downside is they're only great if you want them to be. Surprising, right? The honest truth is we're so excited by the great ideas that we forget to Implement it into our lives. We learn so much in these webinars that we actually overlook putting it into context. The sad thing is that these lessons melt away after some weeks. What if you actually reflected on how that wonderful topic could apply to your life after a webinar? What if you wrote down the steps you want to take to achieve it? What i...

The Fight For Humanity

Hello,Dia mi! I hope you have been staying on top of everything. We are in stressful times and it is essential that mental health is maintained. All the recent incidents we have been hearing have been so heartbreaking.  There have been reports of rape, murder, terrorism, homicide and domestic violence all over the place. It has made me wonder where all the humanity in the world went to. Was the world always horrible like this? Are there still good people? How can we restore our humanity? These are the questions I ask everyday and which I fear I might never get an answer to. It is common sense to know that there is no justification for rape. As humans, we all know that rape has to do with the mentality of the rapist. We hear the death of a "corrupt" politician and we rejoice. We learn that a thousand Hausas have died and we dismiss it as distant news. Black people get killed everytime in America and we shove it off.We forget that this was someone's father, sister, friend,t...

How Intentional Are You?

Hello,Dia mi! How are you doing today? I trust that you have been staying healthy and safe. It is important to be intentional about your well being. I have an interesting fact for you. Did you know that you have to be intentional about even the littlest things? First off, let's examine what intent is. According to the online English dictionary, intent is fixed concentration or an unwavering focus on a course of action.  In simpler words,it means giving time to a particular goal or action you want to do. It means carefully planning and taking steps towards whatever you want to do. Its as simple as writing a shopping list when going to the supermarket. You have the intention to go to the supermarket. However, you won't get there by just saying it. Writing a list is to start working towards the goal of going shopping. Being intentional is as simple as this analogy😁. You might ask why you should be intentional. Why should you be intentional? It shows that you're ready...

The New Sounds Of Nigerian Music

Hello,Dia mi! I trust that you have been doing well. It's a new month and a new chance for many of us to crush those amazing goals, right? What have you been up to? As for me,I have been listening to a whole lot of songs. My playlist is full of new sounds that I'm absolutely loving. I decided to share them with you😁. The corona virus pandemic has forced all of us to stay at home more than we would love to. Fortunately, this has helped many artists to hone their craft. Nowadays, songs are more about the lyrics than the beat.(Shaking a table😂) To be very honest, most Nigerian songs are about the beat. We love to listen to the beat because it lifts our mood and keeps us motivated. We had less time on our hands which made it easy to ignore lyrics. With more time on our hands,we can now listen to song lyrics patiently and with meaning. We prefer slower tunes with deep interpretations. Suddenly,a lockdown music revolution became the next big thing. In few months,we have moved from ear-...

The Therapeutic Part Of Books

Hello,Dia mi! I am so excited to see you today. I've been bursting with it for a while now. However,I'm glad to know that you have been thriving during my absence♥️. Is reading therapy? I've always loved books and proclaimed it to the world. But could it actually help me? Can it help you? Thankfully, books are one of the most wonderful things ever created. Books can be a form of therapy. In actual fact,it has now become a field called bibliotherapy. Bibliotherapy is recommending  a reading list for someone based on the issues and personality of the individual. It is also using books as a medium of healing. Books help you to empathize, self reflect and understand yourself better. When you read extensively, you get to meet characters who faced what you face and got healing. You get a deep conviction that it is possible for you. You feel a strong connection to that character. It gives you hope. There are also non fiction books that deal with mental health ...
