Hello, Dia mi😁!
The kind of books I'm talking about is not this type but for reference purposes, this is also a book😂. I'm going to guess you read a fictional book recently. Even if my guess is wrong and you're reading one right now, can you drop it for a moment?
How are you doing today? I hope you've been having a lovely week so far. As for me, I have had a lovely week of reading and online classes and it wasn't exactly bearable. Luckily for us, it's the weekend💃💃!
I'm happy I was able to help you with tips to help you overcome failure in our last conversation. On the bright side, we'll be talking about books and how special they are. Books are treasures given to us for literally nothing and when we treat them that way, they change our lives forever.

Before a moment gets long, I want you to know that I understand how boring self-help might be, especially if you're new to it. Most of them don't have that thrill, suspense and comedy your favourite novel has. In fact, they're saying things you already know from a fresh perspective. Why should you bother with them?
Since I believe motivational speeches are exaggerated, I'll just tell you why I picked up self-help books two years ago. I noticed that I was reading a lot but I wasn't developing. I was hungry for a better mentality because I wanted to grow up as a valuable woman. Yet, I was solely dependent on my parents and didn't have money for all those "career woman masterclasses". What did I do? I asked a couple of people who I admired how they developed the ideas they had. I was suddenly thrown into the world of personal development books.
This was a turning point for me and I devoured all kinds of self-help materials, even poorly written ones. I wanted to grow and in doing that, I made one mistake. I rushed these books and didn't give them a chance for their lessons to sink deep into my mind. For a while, even my romance novels didn't appeal to me. I treated every self-help book like academic material, taking notes and breaking the lessons into daily habits. Although I am not a perfect person, I can gladly say I have a better thought process now.
Dia mi, my point is you should balance your novels with self-help books. Novels can teach new words and writing styles. But if you want something that will bring a solution to problems, you should read a self-help book. They are easily accessible in book stores and online platforms like Amazon, Okadabooks and others. Some books that have taught me major life lessons include:
- Made To Stick by Dan and Chip Heath.
- Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Coleman.
- The Smart Money Woman by Arese Ugwu.
- Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy.
- Becoming by Michelle Obama.
Thank you for giving me a moment, Dia mi💙. I hope you'll give self-help books more attention and harness the power they have. If you already read them, what books are you reading currently? I would love to hear all about them in the comments section.
I hope you stay productive throughout next week. Can't wait to have my next conversation with you.
With love,
Peperempe.

DeleteThis is really nice, I hope I am able to pick a self help book soon😏
ReplyDeleteYou really should. Let me hear all about it when you're done🤭
DeleteNice article. Keep it up
DeleteThis is really nice, now that I think about it in year 2019, I read a couple of books(self-help inclusive) and it made my year, changed my worldview and thought process. I wasn't that good then but now that I've stopped I can see the glaring difference. I need to get back to the books
ReplyDeleteI hope you find it worthwhile. Thank you!
DeletePeperempe, thanks for this. Self -help books are just that. Although, I find it boring sometimes. Smart financial woman was phenomenal! I'll try to read the rest. Love, always. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for writing this! Was helpful!
ReplyDeleteThank You For the books recommendations. I'll do well to read up on those I am yet to read.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, I like how you mentioned how fiction books can help too. There has to be a balance. Thank you for sharing.
